TozziniFreire Advogados in São Paulo and Posadas in Montevideo have helped Uruguayan digital healthcare start-up Axenya merge with Brazilian consultancy Health Connection.
The target company relied on Costa Tavares Paes Advogados in São Paulo for the deal, which was announced on 2 August for an undisclosed amount.
The transaction will entail the purchase of shares and a stock swap.
Axenya will use Health Connection’s resources to expand across the Latin American healthcare market, with the aim of becoming the region’s biggest healthcare ecosystem.
According to founder Mariano García-Valiño, Axenya will achieve this by gathering “data to analyse large populations, identify care gaps and create perfectly targeted individual digital plans for each person, improving clinical metrics and reducing cost across the entire spectrum.”
TozziniFreire has advised on other healthtech deals recently. In August, it represented Síntese B2B in the sale of the business to Bionexo, Latin America’s largest business-to-business healthcare marketplace.
Headquartered in Montevideo, Axenya uses artificial intelligence and other innovations in technology to provide a range of digital therapy products and services across Latin America.
São Paulo-based Health Connection provides corporate healthcare plans to national and multinational clients, including Allianz and SulAmérica.
